Xiaomi has launched a new 5G device dubbed Mi 9 Pro 5G. The device is an upgrade of the Mi 9 with a new chipset and much faster charging. The device shares the same processor with the Mi Mix Alpha that was recently launched but at a cheaper price.
The Mi 9 Pro 5G sports a 6.39” OLED panel with a built-in fingerprint scanner. It has a screen resolution of 1080×2340 pixels at a pixel density of 403 pixels per inch (ppi) and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
Under the hood, the Mi 9 Pro 5G packed octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor that features 1 cores clocked at 2.96GHz, 3 cores clocked at 2.42GHz and 4 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It comes in four memory capacity 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB.
Camera-wise, the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G on the rear is powered by a 48-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.75 aperture and a pixel size of 0.8-micron; a second 12-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a pixel size of 1.0-micron and a third 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a pixel size of 1.0-micron. The rear camera setup has autofocus. It sports a 20-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, with an f/2.0 aperture and a pixel size of 0.9-micron.
The device runs on MIUI 11 based on Android and is powered by a bigger battery (4,000 mAh) and an improved fast charging, compared with the Mi 9 – it supports up to 45W wired (with the appropriate charging included in the box), while wireless is now 30W and support reverse charging with up to 10W speeds – a first for the Chinese company.
The latter was achieved thanks to a special Xiaomi wireless pad with a new architecture of the wiring and additional cooling. The Mi 9 Pro 5G is a dual-SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards.
The Mi 9 Pro 5G is expected to be retailed starting from a pocket-friendly price of CNY3,699 ($520/€473) and go as high as CNY4,299 ($605/€550) and will be available in 8/128 GB, 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB, and 12/512 GB variants. It will be offered in Dream White and Titanium Black color options.
