
Have you enrolled for your National Identification Number (NIN) by the NIMC and you have forgotten your NIN or don’t remember where you kept your NIN slip? Not to worry, NIMC’s USSD service enables you to retrieve your NIN conveniently using your mobile phone.
Before going properly into the post which is how to retrieve your NIN number, let’s explain the meaning of NIN.
The National Identification Number (NIN) is a set of Numbers(usually 11 in number) which is assigned to a user individual upon successful enrolment for the National Identification System by NIMC.
It is also mandatory for every citizen and legal resident in Nigeria to enrol for the National Identification Number (NIN).
The NIMC has put in place a code to help you retrieve your NIN and this service is now available on MTN and Airtel mobile networks in Nigeria.
To use this service, simply go through the following steps:
1. Kindly dial *346# from your MTN or Airtel phone number.
2. From the options displayed, select “NIN Retrieval”, by typing in ‘1’, if you are using the same phone number you enrolled with for your NIN.
3. follow the steps displayed on your screen and provide the required inputs.
Note that using this service attracts a N20 ( twenty naira) fee only (deducted from your phone credit balance).
