Its no longer news that Airtel Nigeria has started rolling out their 4G service here in Nigeria. So far, only three states are now covered with Airtel 4G LTE network and they are Ibadan, Abuja, and Lagos. The Airtel 4G service is being run on Band 3 ( 1800MHz ) which is compatible with almost all 4G enabled smartphones, unlike Glo that runs on Band 28 which only works on few smartphones.

When Airtel unveiled their 4GLTE service in Ibadan, they announced that all their customers using the Airtel 3G enabled SIM will be able to use the 4G LTE service by upgrading the 3G SIM card to the 4G enabled version.

Surprisingly, Airtel has also added a gift data when you upgrade your old 3G enabled SIM to 4G. According to Airtel, you will be giving whopping 4GB of data and an additional 25% data bonus, for the next three months, for plans above ₦500.  The data bonus can only be used when you’re connected to a 4G smartphone + Airtel 4G network.

So, how can you now enjoy the Airtel 4GB data offer and the additional 25% data bonus? Is very simple.  Just follow the below information carefully.

How To Upgrade Your Airtel SIM to 4G LTE and enjoy 4GB of data

Note: Make sure that you are using a 4G enabled device and make that you to go with a valid ID card, voters card or national ID card preferably.

Now, walk into any Airtel office closest to you with your current Airtel SIM and request for a sim swap. After the sim swap, if the network is live in your location, your 4G should be up and running. New subscribers can just purchase a SIM.

You can run a check if Airtel 4G is visible in your location and let me know. Go to your phone settings – Mobile networks – Network operators – Search networks.

Tap Search networks to activate a search. After a short period, a list of available networks will be presented to you.
