It has come to my notice that MTN has blocked the SMS commands (Double, Promo) that we do send to activate the 100% double data offer without tweaking of IMEI. So then, I decided to activate a new data plan (N500 for 2GB) on one of my old MTN SIM with the 100% double data offer still active on it. I sent 103 to 131 and the data was activated successfully. Steps On How To Tweak/Change Your IMEI For MTN Double Data Activation
1. Download MTK Engineering Mode on Playstore
2. Open the app (MTK Engineering) and click on MTK settings.

3. Swipe left and click on CDS Information

4. Click on Radio Information

5. Here, you have to choose the SIM slot you want to tweak. Phone 1 = SIM, Phone 2 = SIM 2

6. When you click on any of the two, it will appear like this

7. Now type in E inside the box that contains AT+. Then it will appear like this

8. If you’re tweaking SIM 1, then select AT+EGMR=1,7,””
9. If you’re tweaking SIM 2, then select AT+EGMR=1,10,””
10. Let assume you are tweaking SIM 2, then you have to input your ready-made 15 digits IMEI in between the two “”. Then you have to space the AT from the +EGMR.… after that click on SEND AT COMMAND.

11. Set your phone on Airplane mode instead of rebooting. Then remove it from Airplane mode after 1 sec and dial *#06# to check your IMEI if it has been changed to the new one.

12. After the IMEI has been tweaked successfully, you have to wait for the congratulations message that your double data offer has been activated.

Note: If you didn’t receive message after 30 mins (max) then you need to retweak.

In last year Africa’s largest Tech gathering hosted by TechPlus, MTN; a leading network provider collaborated with TechPlus to introduced double data offer which they sold 7GB of data for just N2000.

After the TechPlus event, MTN decided to make the 100% double data offer official to all its data plans but only those that can afford to buy a new smartphone can activate the offer to their SIM.

As we always do, we were able to maneuver the offer by tweaking IMEI of a new smartphone to an old smartphone in other to activate the MTN double data offer.
