
The second edition of Google for Nigeria is one of Google’s main
initiatives of 2018 to connect business owners, investors,
stakeholders, creatives and digital savvy individuals to learn and
experience new innovative technologies to promote their digital
enterprise.
Amongst Google’s partners present was Africa’s mobile phone giant, itel mobile, engaging participants in the world of digital innovation whilst showcasing itel’s new premium and trendy products.

Here are the exciting highlights from the two-day event:
Itel’s first-hand experiential booth
Having
to experience what you are about to purchase and also have a highly
interactive one-on-one session with the brand is one good thing
consumers always look forward to as it solidifies trust in the product
for everything its functionality entails. As a consumer-driven brand,
itel mobile created an experiential booth for everyone to use itel
smartphones and experience the high-quality feel of the devices.
A Digital playground: welcome to the world of creativity
This
exciting session of the event was majorly for people to explore the
world of digital and discover how it can be beneficial, like the
first-hand experience of Google’s upgraded technology like Android
software (Go edition), Job search Google, Grow with Google, Google
quick other and other A.I (Artificial Intelligence) features.
Google Wi-Fi hotspots announcement
Google’s country
manager, Juliet Ehimuan-Chiazor, during her presentation at the event
announced that Google has launched 5 free Wi-Fi station at 5 public
locations in Lagos, which includes: Muritala Mohammed Airport, Computer
Village, Unilag Campus, Palms, Lekki and Ikeja City Mall. Also, Google
will roll-out 200 Google Stations to cater for 10 million Nigerians
across 5 cities in the country by 2019: Lagos, Kaduna, Port-Harcourt,
Ibadan, and Abuja.
Nigerians top searched words: quite interesting
When
Ken Tokusei, Google’s Director on International Search revealed the
list of the most searched words by Nigerians in the past one year, the
slang “Naija no dey carry last” quickly comes to mind. One must have
just concluded that Nigerians are interesting and fun-loving people. The
top words include World Cup Fixtures, Npower, How to dance shaku shaku,
BBNaija, Black Panther, Wizkid’s Soco etc.
