Do you remember when I posted it Here that Microsoft brag of having the battery saving web browser, which they claim that the PC Edge browser lasted 70 percent longer than the PC running Chrome, 43 percent longer than the one running Firefox, and 17 percent longer than the one with Opera? Lol… I taught Google will pick up the challenge first but i never know that Opera has no chilling as they challenge Microsoft back in other to show how Opera browser saves battery than other browser.
Like most other engineering teams, we
love it when someone picks a fight. If we get beaten in a test like
this, we consider it a bug.
Yesterday, Opera ran a test with the native ad blocker and power saver enabled, Based on this method, Opera was able to run 22% longer than Microsoft Edge (25.10586.0.0) on a laptop running Windows 10, 64-bit, and 35% longer than the latest version of Google Chrome (51.0.2704.103). Yes, opera was able to get a battery life of 3:55 hours when Microsoft Edge followed behind with 3:12 hours while Google chrome follows with 2:54.
Tests will never perfectly reflect the way real people browse, but there
are ways to make some tests more reliable than others. For example, you
can use a variety of different websites (video, news etc,) to imitate
the way users browse. You can also use a special algorithm that scrolls
these websites similar way real users do. This is what we did in
previous tests, and this is what we did when comparing Opera to Edge. Opera says
At least with this challenge, we have been able to know that Opera and Edge are the best browsers when it comes to power saving. Lol…. Hope Google is seeing what Opera and Microsoft are doing, still waiting patiently to hear from them.
